Welcome
The BonaRes Knowledge Library (KLIB) is basically a data base of scientific articles on soil processes. The special intention of the KLIB is to better structure published knowledge so that well-informed conclusions can be drawn on the behavior of soil systems.
Soil processes are highly sensitive to the specific site conditions such as soil type, land use, climate or the position along the soil profile. This is why the KLIB includes all this meta information together with the major findings of the collected publications. This should be a highly valuable tool for any literature study on soil processes.
The idea is, that all soil scientists can access the structured contents of the library and those who are willing to actively contribute to the contents of the data base are invited to do so – the KLB is thought to be a community effort.
Besides a searchable article list on the starting page including valuable overview and citation extraction functions, various graphical visualizations of the contents are helping to rapidly find the papers of interest and those that are closely related.
Registered users can add new research articles including bibliographic information, research site conditions, analyzed soil properties, management practices and major results reported in the article.
At present the KLIB is optimized for scientific articles on soil processes and the impact of external drivers on soil processes and properties. It will be extended to methodological articles (a big share of soil science publications) in the future.
As an effort like the BonaRes Knowledge Library only works and keeps on living, if enough people are willing to actively participate, we want to reach out to everybody sharing the passion soil with us to join us in our endeavor to make soil knowledge easily accessible for everybody and a valuable tool for any soil scientist!
This cookbook helps you using the knowledge library to its full potential and explains the contents, functions and intended usage for each page. You can work through its content using the navigation bar on the left side. Specific contents can be searched for by using the search function on the Cookbook starting page. It can be accessed from anywhere within the Cookbook by clicking "Knowledge Library Wiki" in the upper left corner.
To get started, you should first register & login. Any feedback that helps to improve the KLIB is welcome!
